Sohgave!…Nature’s Most Versatile Sweetener
Sohgave! nectar is the “gold standard blue agave” for good reason: it is pure, premium, USDA Certified Organic agave with guaranteed consistency from batch to batch. Sohgave! is nature’s most versatile sweetener, and there simply is no equal.
History & Production
While there are numerous species of agave, the one we use in Sohgave! is called “Blue Weber agave.” This most remarkable plant is cultivated, harvested, and produced by the natives of Mexico with the same care they have devoted to this crop for thousands of years. It is grown at high altitudes in sandy soil—in just the right climate to help it flourish. Although many people think agave is a cactus, it is actually a rosette-shaped succulent with large, thick, fleshy leaves that end in a sharp point. These spiky leaves can grow to over two meters in length! Agave plants sprout shoots that eventually flower, and it is during the development of these flowers that the plant produces a rush of sweet sap commonly called “nectar” or less commonly, “syrup.” Nectar is made by taking juice from the agave’s pineapple-like core, then filtering and heating it. The sweet, golden nectar from the Blue Weber agave is known throughout the industry as the highest quality agave available.
Sohgave!…Nature’s Subtle, Healthful, Concentrated & Versatile Sweetener
Sohgave! is a pure, unrefined, low Glycemic sweetener–lower on the Glycemic Scale (17) than sugar, honey, maple syrup and other sweeteners. Still, it is approximately 30% sweeter than sugar, so you’ll use less! For this reason, it is an appealing sweetener for people who monitor their glucose intake. Sohgave! nectar is nature’s subtle concentrated sweetener, and remarkably, its flavor is neutral and adaptable for baking, cooking and grilling. It will not crystallize like honey and it dissolves quickly in hot or cold. Even better, this all-purpose sweetener is a good economical alternative to sweeteners like maple syrup or honey. And because of its consistent flavor, you can count on a reliable outcome to all your favorite recipes. While agave has only recently been “discovered” by chefs for its culinary properties, Sohgave! has garnered a following of top chefs who enthusiastically endorse its taste, quality and benefits.
Sohgave! nectar is available in several varieties, and while each is easy to use, we recommend experimenting with them to determine your preference. Sohgave! is a bit less viscous than honey, which makes it even easier to pour and mix. Culinary experts who specialize in desserts often comment that their baked goods have a smoother texture and added moistness when prepared with Sohgave!
